The Shop Around The Corner

It is a widely held belief among us that the traditional sweet shop is dead.  Walking around the city, you'd find nothing even vaguely reminiscent of the old-fashioned penny sweet shop.  Until now.

Mr. Treats' Sweets in Temple Bar opened in January of this year.  It is exactly what a traditional sweet shop should be.  The shop stocks over 120 tubs of sweets, from the deliciously sweet Apple Drops and Kola Kubes to the devilishly sour Mega Sour Lemon Drops.

Miscellaneous Editor, Daniel Clifford and I took a trip to the sweet shop where, as well as sampling some of the delicious sweets, we had a chat with the friendly proprietor, Darren.

Apparently business has picked up in the last month or two as word got around about the shop.  He says he has many Belvederians coming and going each day but his most frequent customers tend to be Trinity students or Central Bank Employees.

This shop is a gem if ever there was one, I urge you to go now and get your euro's worth!
